Matakana!

We had an adventure up north to Matakana (pronounced 'Monica' by the kids.)  We took a stroll down Main Street, and found that the local church was having a little picnic and inviting all the passersby to come in.  So we came in.  We had to.  Because they were offering pony rides.

This is April.

And this is Jazz.

And this is the boys getting saddled up for their first ride.

And here they are in action.  Ride 'em cowboys!!

There were actually lots of things to ride in Matakana.  Like this lawn ornament that was apparently more fun in theory than in practice.

Or this, which was, I'm pretty sure, the most fun that our family has had for a dollar all this week.

We laughed with delight along with Amiri, and were so proud of Arram. What a brave little guy.

That was Wonderful! Amiri's riding sequence with Arram instructing the pony to, "stop running", was precious.

I agree, that dollar was SO well spent.

This is so precious! I loved the little jockey hats the boys were wearing!

Did the boys get to choose which pony they got to ride? Both April and Jazz were so docile and sweet - not like that rowdy little plastic pony in your last clip!

There is nothing like the wonder of a pony to children. I was very proud of Arram who was a good sport even if he was a little leery. Did he ever get onto the plastic pony? He was so cute with it. As always, Amiri, is such a good teacher to his little brother. I am so glad that you all have a wonderful time on your adventure.

How awesome! Was the plastic pony first and then the real ones? That was a really neat opportunity at the church picinc! How lovely of them to do this!
