The fancy new playground

There's this great new playground that just went in behind the West Wave swimming facility.  Our neighbour told us about it, and we went to check it out.  Big wows.  Lots of climbing, clambering fun.

Amiri climbed up one big structure, across a rope bridge, and now he's creeping toward me on another.

Arram explored many of the smaller structures and was too much of a whirlwind of activity to snap a proper photo.  Here he is during a rare moment of repose.

There was an enormous slide and Amiri really loved it.

And here he is enjoying the biggest flying fox I've ever seen.

I love this fancy new playground! So that's what a flying fox is - whew! I thought it would be a huge fruit bat..

Arram looks to be ankle deep in the mulch - and for now he's much more 'grounded' than his big brother! (ha!)

I love the picture of your hen and chicks - absolutely beautiful and quite a pleasant surprise to one like me who can't even get them to grow!

It looked like both the boys loved the slide too. Arram has come such a long way in his adventurous spirit coming forward. His picture was too cute for words.

Amiri was priceless in his comments after the flying fox. I loved that Grandpa knew to ask him what he wanted the next time he went on the ride. What a great day together!

A flying fox is a staple on nearly every playground in NZ. This one was tremendous-- more often they're simply a handle that you hold and dangle from and zip the ten feet or so from end to end. Amiri is a maniac for flying foxes and his arms have become so strong from them that he's starting to be really impressively creative.

Wow! That sure does look like fun and the look on Amiri's sweet boyish face afterwards is priceless!
