Manaakitia mai Aotearoa

Amiri has been singing this sweet-sounding song lately, one with Maori words that I didn't understand.  Something he learned at school, he said.  Yesterday he also sang the English translation and I realised with something of a start that that's the national anthem he's singing.

Here he is.

And here's the full version.

Such a sweet clip of Amiri, I couldn't make out any tune he was singing, but certainly did catch a definite Kiwi accent when he asked should he do the English part.

The full version of the NZ national anthem was very beautiful (both the song and the video). I noticed there were no animals featured in this film except in the 1st couple minutes featuring a magnificent elk surveying its domain. Are there actually deer that were released in the NZ wild?

I loved Amiri's sweet version.

The full version was very, very powerful. I was amazed at the beauty of it and the clear message of God throughout. I also loved the obvious message to consider and protect all races, creeds, etc.

It's a pretty awesome national anthem, isn't it?

Deer, yes, introduced deer. I have also seen fenced deer on farms. Red European deer, not whitetails.
