They went thump thump thump

This is our feijoa tree.

And this is a feijoa.

I've decided they taste like strawberry-citrus pears to me.  I've been enjoying buying bags of them for a gold coin from neighbours who have unmanned fruit stands with honesty boxes at the end of their driveways.

But I won't need to do that for a while!  I went out and gave our tree an experimental little shake.  Here's what came tumbling down.  The biggest one is the size of a goose egg.

What an intriguing fruit! I'd never heard of this exotic yummy sounding thing until just now and had to bing it to find out more.

When feijoas become available here I would surely try them!

You are surely blessed! Isn't it great how our good Lord provides us with such wonderful things to eat?

And I thought it MIGHT be a rata tree because of the shape of the flower cluster...I'm glad I was wrong! Amiri wanted a house with a feijoa tree and some strawberries growing in the yard, and WOW, that's what he has!

Apparently they don't travel well so they aren't exported. But surely feijoa trees could be grown in the southern US. They are wonderful treats! Arram doesn't like them, but Amiri and I have already eaten almost all of our haul up!
