Traditional carvings

Woodworking is a common art form here, especially in traditional Maori styles that incorporate the spirals of fern heads, and stylized human forms.  Here are a couple of examples that I see every day.

Very similar to the wooden chainsaw carvings by George Barosko and many others! We have an original "Barosko" bas-relief of a wolf head in the school foyer. Lots of similarities between NZ and UP!
